Cartwright & Butler

Cartwright & Butler is a luxury hamper and fine food manufacturer. We started working with Cartwright & Butler at the beginning of 2020, and continued to support them throughout the challenges of the COVID19 pandemic. Our initial focus was looking at growth opportunities through channel expansion into the B2C market, marketplaces and corporate gifting.

Brand Growth

Although Cartwright & Butler had an established brand, The SME Partners worked to solidify brand growth by using key channels such as PR, social organic & email marketing to boost exposure. This included features on the front page of The Sun, magazine gift listing in publications such as Good Housekeeping and key social influencer posts. Native advertising was also employed to increase reach. Towards the end of 2020, Cartwright & Butler invested into food and lifestyle photography which the SME Partners sourced and art directed.

Product Stretch

Working with the existing product manager and utilising extensive market research, new products were introduced including personalisation gifting on hampers, homeware gifting range, a new corporate gifting programme and more recently a luxury advent calendar.

Digital Strategy & Management

Expansion into the ecommerce B2C & B2B market included project management of a website re-platform from Magento to a bespoke CMS. This included project management, budget management and sourcing technical agencies and third parties to integrate into a new picking and packing system. Expansion into paid advertising, the introduction of an affiliate scheme and Amazon marketplaces saw ecommerce online growth in 2020 reach 300% year on year.  2021 was topped off with entry into the personalisation gifting market with personalised occasion sleeves and messaging for a wide variety of products.
